The Arty Frog

This handsome little fellow is the Green and Golden Bell Frog. He’s part of my latest body of artworks called “Noble Spirit – Australian Wildlife Portraits” which was on exhibit at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens in 2017.

Green and Golden Bell Frog (Litoria aurea) part of rare colony on Broughton Island, Myall Lakes National Park, NSW. Threatened species.

I originally photographed him as part of an assignment for Australian Geographic several years ago but, it was never published. How could anything with such an appealing face be left out of print?

Although my series was mainly bird and mammal portraits, I felt that he (or she!) deserved recognition as one of Australia’s great survivors. To see what I mean, have a read of the behind-the-scenes story I wrote about the assignment.

The Noble Spirit exhibition will be coming to the Central Coast in April, to be on display at the prestigious Mercure Kooindah Waters resort. I hope you make plans to see it and combine your visit with a casual lunch at the restaurant.
