Western Australia is a botanist’s heaven – a land full of the most remarkable plants. There are may weird wattles there and this one is the weirdest. The leaves were   fused together to form a solid shield and the yellow wattle blossoms were a surprise too. They were growing, not on stems, but directly on the shield-like structure. It seemed like those perfect yellow spheres were dancing across their perfectly-prepared dance floor.
